California Roll Sushi Bowls are a delicious and easy-to-make twist on traditional sushi, featuring fresh ingredients and vibrant flavors.
Ingredients

- 2 cups sushi rice
- 2 1/2 cups water
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 avocado, sliced
- 1 cucumber, julienned
- 1/2 pound imitation crab meat, shredded
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
- 4 sheets nori, cut into strips
- Soy sauce, for serving
Instructions
- Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
- In a pot, combine the rinsed rice and water, and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes.
- In a small bowl, mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved.
- Once the rice is cooked, remove from heat and let it sit covered for 10 minutes.
- Fluff the rice with a fork and mix in the vinegar mixture.
- In serving bowls, layer the sushi rice, avocado, cucumber, and crab meat.
- Sprinkle sesame seeds and add nori strips on top.
- Serve with soy sauce on the side.
Notes
- Feel free to add other toppings like radish or pickled ginger.
- For a spicy kick, add sriracha or spicy mayo.
- Make sure to use sushi-grade fish if you prefer raw ingredients.
